YSRCP Demands CBI Probe into Mega DSC, Seeks Lokesh's Resignation

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Wednesday escalated its attack on the Andhra Pradesh government over the Mega DSC teacher recruitment, alleging large-scale irregularities and demanding a CBI probe into the selection process. The opposition party also sought the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, holding him accountable for the alleged lapses.

The demands were raised at a meeting organised by the YSRCP Student and Youth Wings at the Nagari Town Hall, where district president Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and former minister R.K. Roja addressed party workers and DSC aspirants.

Speaking at the gathering, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said the party would continue its agitation until an independent investigation is ordered into the alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC recruitment. He maintained that the recruitment process must be transparent and urged the government to order a CBI inquiry to restore the confidence of teacher aspirants.

Former minister R.K. Roja accused the government of turning the promised "Mega DSC" into a "Daga (Fraud) DSC," alleging that recruitment norms had been manipulated through government orders governing appointments under the sports quota. She claimed that some candidates secured teaching jobs without undergoing the prescribed examinations or interviews, paving the way for corruption and depriving deserving aspirants of employment.

Demanding that all allegedly irregular appointments be cancelled, Roja said the vacancies should be filled strictly on merit to ensure justice for eligible candidates. She asserted that the YSRCP, acting on the call of party president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, would continue to stand by the affected DSC candidates until their grievances are addressed.

The controversy surrounding the Mega DSC-2025 recruitment has emerged as a major political flashpoint in Andhra Pradesh in recent weeks. While the opposition has alleged irregularities in appointments made under the sports quota and sought an independent probe, the TDP-led government has rejected the allegations, maintaining that the recruitment process was conducted transparently and in accordance with existing rules.

Roja also urged the government to immediately release pending benefits under welfare schemes such as Fee Reimbursement, Vasathi Deevena, and unemployment allowance. Criticising the functioning of the Education Department, she alleged that government schools were facing shortages of quality mid-day meals and textbooks after Nara Lokesh assumed charge as Education Minister.

Questioning the Minister's accountability, Roja said if ministers are expected to take responsibility in other education-related controversies, the same standards should apply to the alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC recruitment. She reiterated that the party would continue its statewide campaign until the government addresses the concerns raised by affected aspirants.
