YSRCP Demands Withdrawal of Suspension of Four Teachers Over TET Exemption Plea

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Sunday demanded the immediate withdrawal of the suspension of four teachers who approached the Central Government seeking exemption from the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for serving teachers. The party also called for an Andhra Pradesh Assembly resolution urging the Centre to grant the exemption.

Addressing the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, N. Chandrasekhar Reddy, state president of the party’s Employees Wing, strongly condemned the action against the teachers. He questioned the rationale behind taking disciplinary action against employees who travelled to Delhi to present their concerns before the Central Government.

Reddy said teachers already working in government schools were being subjected to an additional burden because of the TET requirement. He urged the State Government to take up the matter with the Centre officially instead of penalising teachers who sought relief.

“Is meeting a Union Minister and seeking a TET exemption a crime?” Reddy asked, arguing that raising legitimate service-related concerns should not invite disciplinary action. He demanded that the government use the upcoming Assembly session to pass a resolution seeking TET exemption for serving teachers and forward the recommendation to the Central Government.

According to Reddy, the four suspended teachers are representatives of employee associations who went to Delhi specifically to seek a solution to the problems faced by serving teachers. He criticised the government for suspending them without giving them an opportunity to explain their position and for allegedly linking their action to issues concerning DSC recruitments.

Reddy further accused the Chandrababu Naidu government of failing to fulfil assurances made to employees and attempting to create fear through disciplinary measures against those who question government decisions.

He asserted that employees would not be intimidated by such actions and urged the government to withdraw the suspension orders immediately. He also reiterated that the TET issue should be resolved through dialogue with the Centre rather than disciplinary measures against serving teachers.
