The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) on Friday staged a large-scale protest in Addanki constituency, marking strong opposition to what it described as two years of “failed governance” under the ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh.

The demonstration, organised on the call of party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy , saw participation from party cadre and women supporters. Leading the agitation, YSRCP Addanki coordinator Dr Chintalapudi Ashok Kumar launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu , alleging that the government has “misled the public with false promises and has not delivered on key assurances even after completing two years in office.”

The protest began in Ward 20 of Addanki town, where party leaders paid floral tributes at the statue of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy . The rally then proceeded through key areas of the town and culminated at Bangla Centre, where tributes were also offered to Potti Sriramulu and B. R. Ambedkar .

Addressing the gathering, Dr Ashok Kumar accused the coalition government of pursuing “vindictive politics” and targeting YSRCP leaders through what he described as false cases under a so-called “red book” approach. He claimed that instead of focusing on governance, the administration was engaged in political retaliation.

He further alleged that several pre-election commitments had been completely ignored. Among them, he cited the promise of providing ₹1,500 per month to every woman aged 18 and above , stating that the assurance had not been implemented for any beneficiary.

The YSRCP leader also criticised the government for its stance on welfare and public services. He alleged that the volunteer system was undermined after being insulted during the election campaign, while issues affecting women’s safety such as the Sugalie Preethi case had been neglected.

Dr Ashok Kumar also made allegations regarding governance in law enforcement and public welfare delivery, claiming that even incidents involving ruling party representatives had been handled leniently. He further stated that the Aarogyasri health scheme , expanded during the previous administration, was being weakened, while the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund was allegedly benefiting private hospitals.

On education, he said that despite schools reopening, students were facing shortages of textbooks and bags, and questioned the absence of the “Amma Vodi” welfare initiative . He also criticised irregularities in recruitment processes, alleging that eligible candidates were being ignored in the DSC teacher selection process.

The protest concluded with the party reiterating its claim that the coalition government had failed to meet public expectations and had instead focused on political confrontation rather than welfare delivery.
