YSRCP Intensifies Attack On Coalition Govt, Demands Lokesh’s Resignation Over DSC Row
The opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) staged a large-scale protest in Araku on Friday, marking what it described as two years of “failed governance” by the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh. The demonstration was organised as part of a statewide programme launched at the call of party president and former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The protest, led by Araku MLA Regam Matsyalingam, began at the local party camp office and proceeded towards the Tahsildar office, drawing participation from party workers, local residents, and cadres from multiple mandals. Demonstrators raised slogans against the government, alleging widespread administrative failures and unfulfilled electoral commitments.
At the centre of the protest was the controversy surrounding the “Mega DSC recruitment process” , which the YSRCP alleges was marred by irregularities. Speaking on the occasion, Regam Matsyalingam claimed that several job aspirants had been unfairly affected due to alleged lapses in the recruitment exercise overseen by the education department.
He demanded that Minister for Education Nara Lokesh take moral responsibility for the alleged irregularities and step down from his post. According to him, the recruitment process had caused deep frustration among unemployed youth who had been preparing for government jobs for years.
The MLA also criticised the coalition government’s flagship election agenda, referring to the “Super Six promises” , and alleged that none of them had been implemented effectively even after two years in power. He argued that the government had failed to deliver on key welfare assurances made during the election campaign.
Further, he raised concerns over delayed salaries for contract and outsourced employees, including CRT staff working in tribal residential schools and other education institutions. According to him, many of these workers had not received wages for several months, reflecting what he called administrative negligence.
The protest also highlighted broader welfare concerns, including delays and gaps in the implementation of social security schemes. The YSRCP leaders alleged that promises such as free gas cylinders, enhanced pension benefits, and other welfare initiatives had not been delivered as expected.
Araku MP Gumma Tanujarani and several other party leaders joined the demonstration, reinforcing the party’s criticism of the government’s performance.
Party leaders warned that the agitation would be intensified in the coming days if the government failed to address what they described as growing public dissatisfaction.
