The opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Friday organised large-scale protests across Andhra Pradesh, accusing the N. Chandrababu Naidu-led government of failing to fulfil key promises made to voters during the 2024 Assembly elections.

The demonstrations, held under the banner "Two Years of Betrayal" , marked the completion of two years of the coalition government's tenure. Party leaders and workers conducted rallies, dharnas and human chains in several districts, alleging that the administration had failed to meet expectations on welfare, employment and development commitments.

In Pulivendula, a major rally was led by YSRCP MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy and party state general secretary Satish Reddy . The procession began with leaders paying floral tributes at the statue of Y.S. Jayamma before marching through the town. Addressing supporters, they alleged that the government had deceived the public by not implementing its electoral assurances.

Thousands of party workers also took part in a rally in Tirupati led by district president Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and youth leader Bhumana Abhinay Reddy . The leaders claimed that promises made to women, farmers and youth had remained largely unfulfilled since the coalition assumed office.

In Vijayawada West, former minister Vellampalli Srinivas and former mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi led a protest programme, reiterating allegations that the government had fallen short on its commitments.

Tensions surfaced in Tadipatri of Anantapur district after police placed former MLA and YSRCP coordinator Kethireddy Peddareddy under house arrest ahead of the planned protest. Peddareddy criticised the action, arguing that preventing participation in a peaceful demonstration despite legal clearance was against democratic principles.

Former minister and district party president Ambati Rambabu led a rally in Guntur, where he accused the government of failing to honour promises made to the electorate over the past two years.

Protests were also reported from Kavali, Araku Valley and several other locations. In Araku, MLA Regam Matsyalingam led a rally and human chain, demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in DSC teacher recruitment and calling for action from the government.

In Anantapur town, YSRCP leaders organised a march from Lalitha Kala Parishad to Tower Clock and staged symbolic demonstrations highlighting what they described as the coalition government's shortcomings.

The party said the protests witnessed participation from large numbers of leaders, workers and supporters across the state, turning the programme into one of its most extensive coordinated agitations in recent months.
