YSRCP MLC Seeks SEC Intervention Over Delays in Election Certificates
YSRCP state general secretary and MLC Leella Appireddy has urged the State Election Commission (SEC) to ensure that candidates contesting the upcoming local body elections receive caste/community certificates and No-Dues/NOC certificates without delay. He called for immediate directions to district-level officials to prevent administrative delays from affecting the nomination process.
In a letter to the State Election Commission, Appireddy said the YSRCP had received complaints regarding delays in processing applications submitted by candidates intending to contest the elections on behalf of opposition parties. He said such delays at the field level could create difficulties for candidates who need the certificates to complete the nomination process within the prescribed timeframe.
Appireddy pointed out that caste or community certificates and No-Dues or NOC certificates are essential wherever they are required under the election rules. If eligible candidates are unable to obtain the necessary documents because of delays by government departments, they could potentially lose their opportunity to file nominations, he said.
He urged the SEC to issue clear and immediate instructions to district collectors, district election officers, revenue officials, municipal commissioners, panchayat authorities and other concerned departments. The applications, he said, should be processed promptly, transparently and without discrimination, particularly during the period leading up to the elections.
The YSRCP has also called for a uniform, time-bound mechanism across Andhra Pradesh for issuing certificates and NOCs related to the election process. Under such a system, applications meeting all prescribed eligibility requirements should be examined and the required documents issued within a clearly defined deadline.
Appireddy said administrative procedures should not become an obstacle for candidates who have fulfilled the required conditions to contest the elections. He stressed that no eligible candidate should lose the opportunity to file a nomination because of delays in obtaining certificates from government authorities.
The MLC further appealed to the State Election Commission to intervene at the earliest and ensure coordination among the departments responsible for issuing the documents. He said timely action would help candidates complete the nomination process within the stipulated period and contribute to ensuring free and impartial participation in the forthcoming local body elections.
