YSRCP Seeks CPS Rollback, 30% Interim Relief and Clearance of Employee Arrears

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has demanded the immediate release of pending dues owed to government employees and pensioners, alleging that the Andhra Pradesh government has failed to fulfil the commitments it made to them.

The party also strongly condemned allegations that Minister Anagani Satya Prasad threatened leaders of employee unions. YSRCP said employees raising questions about their legitimate rights and demands could not be silenced through intimidation.

Addressing a press conference at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, the party’s Employees and Pensioners Wing state president Nalamare Chandrasekhar Reddy said he had never witnessed such an approach towards government employees during his 40 years of service.

Government employees, he said, form the backbone of the administration and play a crucial role in ensuring that welfare schemes reach the public. While governments may change, employees remain part of the system and should not be treated like subordinates without rights, he added.

Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged that in the past 27 months, the coalition government had failed to fully implement even one of the promises made to employees and pensioners. He demanded the immediate clearance of nearly ₹40,000 crore in pending dues, including amounts related to GPF, APGLI, retirement benefits, PRC and DA arrears.

He said that although employee representatives met a group of ministers on July 22, nearly 40 days had passed without a clear decision on their demands. The government was also accused of delaying action on a review of CPS/GPS, the constitution of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC), the announcement of Interim Relief (IR) and the release of five pending installments of Dearness Allowance (DA).

Recalling the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, Chandrasekhar Reddy said it had announced 27 per cent Interim Relief soon after coming to power.

The YSRCP leader demanded the abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), implementation of the 12th PRC, at least 30 per cent Interim Relief, clearance of all financial arrears and the full restoration of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS).
