YSRCP slams move to take over lands of the poor at Badvel as “atrocious”
YSRCP public representatives have termed the sudden demolition of temporary structures on lands that have been under the possession of poor families for nearly 20 years as unjust. MLC DC Govind Reddy and MLA Dr Sudhamma on Sunday inspected the lands allocated to the poor in Revenue Survey No. 958/2 of Guntapalle village in Badvel mandal .
They visited the affected families, who were staging a protest at their plots following the recent demolitions, and enquired about the details of the land allotments. The leaders assured the victims of their support and promised to speak to the District Collector to ensure justice.
Speaking on the occasion, they criticised the alleged attempt to take over lands that have been in the possession of the poor for years, despite them holding house site pattas issued by revenue authorities , without issuing any prior notices, calling it “atrocious.” They said it was unjust to remove structures and level lands belonging to poor beneficiaries who had received pattas in phases since 1996 .
They further alleged that some TDP leaders had misled revenue officials in an attempt to take over the lands in the name of benami pattas . They demanded a comprehensive inquiry by revenue authorities and urged that justice be delivered to the eligible beneficiaries through a full-fledged investigation, free from political considerations.
The YSRCP leaders clarified that they were not opposed to the formation of NTR Colony as claimed by TDP leaders. However, they said it was inappropriate to target lands already allotted to the poor when suitable government land was available in the town. They added that they would soon meet the District Collector to explain the issue in detail.
