YSRCP Stages Statewide Protests Over Alleged DSC-2025 Irregularities

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Monday stepped up its campaign against the Andhra Pradesh government over alleged irregularities in the DSC-2025 recruitment, holding protests and rallies across the state and demanding a CBI probe into the selection process.

The party also sought the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, accusing him of failing to take responsibility for the alleged lapses. DSC aspirants, students, unemployed youth, women and party workers participated in demonstrations held across several constituencies.

YSRCP leaders alleged that police attempted to restrict the protests by issuing advance notices, preventing rallies and placing some leaders under house arrest. State coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy claimed that restrictions were imposed despite the party obtaining permissions for demonstrations. He also raised objections to police action in Kuppam and Pulivendula.

In Visakhapatnam, MLC Varudu Kalyani led a protest by YSRCP women leaders and workers, demanding an independent investigation into the recruitment allegations and Lokesh’s resignation.

A bike rally was organised in Kakinada Rural under former minister Kurasala Kannababu, with the protesters travelling from Turangi to Karapa. Besides a CBI inquiry, they demanded the release of pending fee reimbursement funds and restoration of the ₹3,000 monthly unemployment allowance promised to job seekers.

In Uravakonda, former MLA Y. Visweswara Reddy and student wing leader Y. Pranay Reddy led a rally from the panchayat office to the tahsildar office. Students and youth, many dressed in black, raised slogans demanding accountability.

A major mobilisation was reported in Chandragiri, where YSRCP leader Chevireddy Mohith Reddy led a protest. Party sources claimed that around 15,000 people participated and demanded justice for eligible DSC candidates.

In Rajamahendravaram, former MP Margani Bharat Ram was allegedly placed under house arrest ahead of a proposed bike rally, according to the party. Protests were also held in Tirupati, Pulivendula and Nellore, with leaders reiterating demands for a CBI inquiry.

In Nellore, MLC Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy said the party was not seeking cancellation of the recruitment or removal of selected teachers, but wanted the allegations examined through a transparent and independent investigation.

The government has rejected allegations of wrongdoing and maintained that the recruitment followed prescribed procedures. The controversy has also become a wider political battle over transparency, accountability and employment opportunities, with the YSRCP continuing to press for an independent probe and Lokesh’s resignation.
