YSRCP’s Srikanth Reddy Raises Questions Over Blocking of Critical Social Media Posts

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) state general secretary Srikanth Reddy has accused the Andhra Pradesh government of suppressing voices on social media that question its policies and performance. He alleged that public criticism concerning DSC recruitment, welfare schemes and election manifesto promises was being restricted on social media platforms.

Speaking to reporters at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Wednesday, Srikanth Reddy alleged that posts questioning the government were being blocked on social media platforms. He said the party had raised the matter with X, which, according to him, responded that complaints had been received in the names of police officials.

The YSRCP leader further alleged that Andhra Pradesh Police had used the name of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) while seeking action against certain content on X. Questioning the reference to a US agency, he asked why the FBI's name had been invoked in connection with the blocking of social media posts.

Srikanth Reddy then turned his criticism towards the government's handling of social security pensions. He claimed that approximately 63.5 lakh elderly beneficiaries were receiving pensions under the previous YSRCP administration. He alleged that the present government had not sanctioned any new pensions while nearly 6.5 lakh pensions had been removed.

He also criticised the government over its housing record. Srikanth Reddy claimed that the previous administration headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had distributed around 30,000 house sites and provided assistance for nearly 20 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana with central support.

According to him, the present government had failed to provide a single house to beneficiaries during its 30-month tenure. He used the issue to question the government's implementation of welfare commitments and alleged that several promises made during the election campaign remained unfulfilled.

The YSRCP leader also referred to Chandrababu Naidu's election promises on liquor, alleging that the government had failed to deliver on commitments made to voters through its manifesto.

Srikanth Reddy said people were closely comparing the two administrations and claimed that public welfare would remain an important consideration in assessing their respective records.
