
Zardari Invites Trump to Islamabad, Calls for Deeper US-Pakistan Engagement
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has called for deeper and more structured engagement with the United States across key sectors including energy security, trade, investment, defence, and counter-terrorism , in a letter sent to US President Donald Trump on the occasion of America's 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence .
According to a statement issued by the President's Office on Saturday, Zardari congratulated Trump and the American people, describing the Pakistan-US relationship as one built on mutual respect, shared interests, and a common commitment to peace, security, and prosperity .
The Pakistani President said bilateral ties are on an "ascendant trajectory," marked by renewed engagement and a shared resolve to build a stronger, future-oriented partnership. He stressed the importance of maintaining this momentum through structured cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly energy, commerce, defence, and security .
Zardari also highlighted the role of the Pakistani-American community in strengthening bilateral relations, calling it a lasting bridge of friendship and understanding between the two nations.
The letter praised the achievements of the American people over the past 250 years and acknowledged their contributions to global progress and prosperity. Zardari further expressed appreciation for the US confidence in Pakistan's role as a mediator in negotiations with Iran , reiterating that lasting peace in West Asia can only be achieved through dialogue, diplomacy, and de-escalation .
Concluding his message, Zardari extended an invitation to President Trump to visit Islamabad at his earliest convenience, signalling Pakistan's intent to further strengthen diplomatic engagement with Washington.
